Good news! Britney takes break from music to concentrate on mommy-hood Nov. 23, 2005 The big news this week comes from the world of entertainment. Britney Spears is a new mommy! Spears and husband, Kevin Federline, say they're "ecstatic" over the birth of their baby boy. This is a huge surprise to anyone who's ever seen Britney or her hubby, since "ecstatic" is a three-syllable word. "Everyone is happy, healthy and doing wonderful," said the almost-articulate new mom. This is indeed good news. Better news would be that everyone is doing "wonderfully," but hey – she's a singer, not an English teacher. Well, at any rate, she's not an English teacher. Spears and spouse have named the child Sean Preston. Of course, everyone's already calling him "Skeeter." A source close to Spears said Spears had a caesarian section and that "the C-section scar is very small and very low." If Brit-Brit doesn't want it to show above her britches, it better be real low – like on her knee. Britney is staying in a $3,000-a-night room with a tented balcony; her family and security team take up an additional seven rooms on the floor. Apparently the hospital doesn't allow double-wides in the parking lot. Britney also brought along her own chef. Seems like a lot of expense for fried baloney sandwiches and Red Bull, but what do I know? Fellow celebrities were quick to send their best wishes to mother and child. "Congratulations Britney. You're going to be a wonderful mom," Carmen Electra said. You remember Carmen Electra, right? She's the former Mrs. Dennis Rodman. Nuff said. Singer Ashanti said, "Wow! I still can't get over it. She's kind of like my peer. We're the same age. I couldn't imagine having a baby right now, so congratulations and good luck." That is so touching – in four short sentences she manages to refer to herself four times, Britney once (although not by name) and the child? Well, she does manage to work in the word "baby." Just before Thanksgiving last year, Spears posted a letter to fans talking about her desires to take a break from music and focus on motherhood. The world is thankful that she's taking a break from music; the jury is still out on the motherhood thing.
